College Reading & Writing Blog Project

What is research?

You may not realize it, but you perform research every day. Have you ever watched or listened to a news broadcast? Have you ever checked to see what the temperature is going to be? Have you looked at the universities to which you would like to transfer? These are all types of research.

At a college or university, you will build upon those skills you already have by researching topics from an academic point of view. This means, you will look at an issue or topic from a variety of vantage points, consult different sources, and then synthesize the information you have either read, watched, or listened to into a thesis.

We are here to help!

Your Prairie State Librarians can help guide you through the research process. Feel free to reach out to us at any point in your research process. You can find our contact information on this page: https://library.prairiestate.edu/askalibrarian.aspx
