Americans and the Holocaust

The Americans and the Holocaust research guide is designed to archive the programs associated with the Spring '23 event.

Welcome

"Americans and The Holocaust" is a traveling exhibit created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Prairie State College's Library hosted the exhibit from March 17th to April 28, 2023. The exhibition was free to students and the public.
The exhibit featured a multimedia display following the timeline of the United States' involvement prior, during, and after learning of Nazi Germany's plan to exterminate all Jews in Europe.

Prairie State College provided lectures on topics within the exhibit, prepared and given by professors of PSC in the Proven IT Room of our conference center. Prairie State faculty and staff participated and performed pieces from Violins of Hope in the PSC Atrium.

In addition to the display, PSC's Library organized a "One Book, One Community" activity around Art Spiegelman's Maus, which retells his father's experience of The Holocaust using mice, cats, and other animals as stand-ins for Jews, Nazis, and other groups involved in The Holocaust.
